For example : you test your water monthly and notice that your chlorine levels are now starting to rise even with weather. next is you notice the water has been cooling off everyday. last is you aren’t swimming due to the water temp. from here we should add an algaecide and start to decrease the runtime of the equipment every week until we hit around 4-5 hrs for an average 45000LTR pool. if we still have high chlorine levels after the first 2-3wks then we can now reduce the chlorine output down to 50%-70% and put a solar blanket on it. leave it on auto and done. dont forget to still check the skimmer basket and pump basket once a week to ensure adequate flow for the chlorinator.
